The White House
The White House was designed by Irish-born James Hoban and construction began in 1792. After 8 years of construction, John Adams and his wife Abigail moved into the house while it was unfinished during the war of 1800. The White House was burned down by the British in 1814. John Adams and his wife fled the White House and newly elected James Monroe finally moved back into the reconstructed house in 1817.

Washington MonumentThe Washington Monument was designed by Robert Mills, and was finished by Thomas Casey. The Washington Monument was completed in 2 different phases. One of the phases was private and the other was public. When it was first finished it was the tallest building in the world. Due to a series of unfortunate events such as, the Civil War, a lack of funding, and the Know Nothing Party's rise to control of the Washington National Monument Society through a illegal election, the construction was put to a halt in 1854. The construction of the monument was resumed in 1879, but marble was used from a different mine resulting in the monument having 2 different colors.

The Pearl Harbor MemorialOn December 7th, 1941, the Japanese launched a sneak attack on the U.S.A which marked the entrance of the U.S.A into WWII. During this sneak attack over 1000 where injured and over 2000 were dead. We call this sneak attack the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Japanese plan was a smart one and it was to attack there pacific fleet so that the Americans could not attack them in Japan. To them Pearl Harbor was the perfect place to attack.
